4 Basic Tasks for Sprinkler Repair

How to Fix Sprinkler System Deficiencies?

Nowadays, sprinkler systems are considered a must-install in every new or remodeling property. Since they help water lawns, plants, and trees, they’re also known as a reliable way to keep your landscape healthy and attractive. There are a few basic sprinkler repair tips that you can use to fix most sprinkler systems. You can repair most sprinkler problems by performing these basic tasks:

Check the Heads

In most cases, the heads of your sprinklers will need to be realigned. A quick fix, this step can often cause the heads to restack themselves. To check your heads, you can remove the head and lay it on the ground. Check to see if the headlines up with its neighbors.

Check the Nozzles

Where there is one, check the nozzles for clogs. A clog will reduce the sprinkler’s ability to water. You can clean a clogged nozzle with a long screw driver or a socket and extension. Use extreme caution when doing this as it is easy to damage the nozzle.

Check the Hose

Check the hose for cracks or kinks. It is also possible that the sprinkler might have been installed incorrectly. In these cases, you will need to move the sprinkler, or the hose, slightly to one side. Then slowly turn the dial until you are satisfied with the water pressure. If you find that the sprinkler still leaks, then there is something underneath the sprinkler that is causing the problem. Take care of this first before you move on to the next step.

Check the Pipes for Leaks

This is another easy repair to do. If you find a leak, fix it. Use a snake, or put some sealant on it, and use it to seal off any exposed pipe fittings. You can snip the stranded pipe and use it to seal other pipe fittings or joints.
